ABOUT US

We started with different questions.

We’ve heard these before.

“What is the best way to budget?”

“Should I save - or pay off debt?”

“What about building wealth?”

These are important questions. They have their place.

But we simply started somewhere else.

Specifically:

How does my relationship with money impact my values?

What does a healthy relationship with money look and feel?

How can I live fully and generously - while also making progress?

My name is Tim Schuster. I created 6 Weeks on Money because I believe the conversation about money isn’t actually about money.

Money gives us the opportunity to reflect on who we want to be in the world and the difference we want to make.

Money is a conversation about what matters most.

The idea wasn’t to create another financial course. Many get-out-of-debt courses and build-wealth classes exist. Gaining a new way of thinking and feeling about money - a healthier relationship with money - would have to be a different kind of learning experience.

That’s why 6 Weeks on Money starts and ends with generosity.

Because generosity is deep in our bones. In our DNA. Made in the “image of God” is what we’re told we are on the first page of Scripture - about humans. If God is outrageously generous, to be fully alive in our humanity is to be generous to one another. To be generous is to be human.

We know that financial gifts (of any size) make a difference in our world and local communities. From social justice movements to causes and communities that give shape and meaning to our lives, much of it is sustained by generosity.

“To be generous is to be human.”

For too many, the barriers to generosity are immense.

More than 50% of American households are living paycheck to paycheck.

157 million are paying off credit card debt.

Most Americans don’t have enough savings to cover expenses for 90 days.

No wonder a recent survey found that 7 in 10 Americans have cried about money at some point in their life.

From statistics to personal stories, I’ve been there. And many of my friends have, too. That’s why I feel compelled to share what I've learned about managing money.

Those questions led to these questions.

What if our relationship with money is the meeting point between our inner world and the outer world we’re engaging with every day?

What if your relationship with money can actually reveal more about yourself, more about God, and more about following Jesus?

What if we could set aside 6 weeks to explore values, set meaningful goals, and use a system to help make progress every day?

A new bottom line.

Getting new skills and knowledge for “managing” finances is important. We provide a lot of that. But growing a healthier relationship with money requires a different kind of work.

The real work is less about making the numbers add up. Though that is important, and we’ll help with that.

Aligning my actions with my values… well… that is the real work.

We invite you to consider 6 Weeks on Money as part of your journey to being you and becoming more of who you are.
